The Swedish mezzo-soprano started her musical training learning the violin at the age of six then at the age of 15 the viola. At the same time her singing education began with her father Hans Dornbusch -soloist at the Royal Opera house in Stockholm. After a master class with Grace Bumbry in Salzburg at the age of 18, she continued with private lessons by the Royal court singer Ingvar Wixell in Stockholm. She was offered a place a year later at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London going directly on to the third year, studying for David Pollard . After graduating from the GSMAD with a BMus and Post diploma her studies followed at the Opera course at the Royal Scottish Academy in Glasgow with Patricia Hay. She was awarded the Weavers Incorporation award "for a highly talented student"and graduated with a Master’s degree in advanced opera. Åsa was engaged at the Anhaltischen Theater Dessau as a guest soloist for the role as Cherubino for three years. Some of her until now performed opera roles: Antonio in “Antonio é Cleopatra”, Galatea in “Aci, Galatea é Polifemo”, Kathinka in “Die verkaufte Braut”, Mère Marie in “Dialogues des Carmélites”, Hänsel in “Hänsel und Gretel”,The Prince Orlofsky in der Fledermaus and Mirabella in Der Zigeunerbaron. She regularly performs in concert halls with orchestras or in recitals around Europe for ex the concert hall in Stockholm, the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, as a soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra wit Alexander Lazarev, on tour with the Scottish Ballet in Carmen with performances at the Edinburgh Festival Theater, Theater Royal and Her Majesty´s Theater in Aberdeen. Åsa has also performed with St. John Smith´s Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Minsk Radio Orchestra and the Norrbottens Symphony Orchestra(S). She was dedicated the chamber music work Sotto voce by the Turkish composer Emre Sihan Kaleli and performed the World premiere at the festival Culturescapes Festival in Basel, broadcast by the Swiss Radio DRS 2 Åsa has a great passion for the Lied repertoire and has recently started a collaboration with the German pianist Gerold Huber. She was between 2006-2017 artistic assistant director for Båstad Chamber music Festival(S), the main Festival for Chamber music in Sweden.
